Follow along

Steps

  1. Check whether your hosting already makes backups, and how often.
  2. If not, install a backup plugin and choose how often it should run.
  3. Save a copy somewhere other than your website, such as cloud storage.
  4. Practise restoring a backup once, so you know how it works.
In writing

In a few words

A backup is a saved copy of your website. If something breaks, you can put everything back the way it was. Many hosts make backups for you, but check how often and how long they keep them. It is also wise to keep your own copy somewhere else.

Words explained

Backup: a saved copy of your website.

Cloud storage: keeping files on the internet, such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
