In writing

In a few words

Updates are small improvements and security fixes. If you ignore them for months, your website becomes easier to break into. Take a backup, click update, and then check your website still looks right. If something looks wrong, you can restore the backup.

Words explained

Update: a newer version of WordPress, a theme or a plugin.

Restore: putting your website back to how it was when you made the backup.
