About this lesson

Summary

Steps

  1. Think of one real customer you would love to help.
  2. Write down what they already know and what confuses them.
  3. Write down the question they have in their head when they arrive.
  4. Keep that person in mind and write directly to them, using the word you.
In writing

In a few words

Before you write a single word, picture one real person reading your page. What do they already know? What are they worried about? What do they want to find out? When you write for one person, your words sound warm and clear. Writing for everyone makes your page vague and flat.

Words explained

Reader: the person who visits and reads your page.

Customer: someone who might buy from you or hire you.

LairdSkills is under construction

I'm still building the lessons, so some pages are placeholders for now. The full courses are coming soon.

You're welcome to look around while I finish.
